COLUMBUS — A 33-year-old Ohio man has been sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to stomping a 68-year-old motorist to death in a 2011 road rage incident.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that William Armstrong was sentenced Monday in the Sept. 5, 2011, beating of Wilmon Damron. Armstrong pleaded guilty in February. He’ll be eligible for parole after 15 years.

Armstrong was riding in a car that was clipped in traffic by a car driven by Damron. Prosecutors said that when Damron stepped out of his car to apologize, he was attacked by Armstrong, suffering fractures of the face and ribs, a damaged spleen and a crushed windpipe.

The injuries led to a stroke, and he died three days later.

Damron’s son rejected Armstrong’s apology in court Monday.
