  • JACKSON, Mich.— Two men have been pronounced dead after a fire swept through their Jackson apartment house.

The 58- and 59-year-olds were pulled from the burning home early Thursday morning.

Lisa Wing tells the Jackson Citizen Patriot that she heard a pop just before 3 a.m. and then her daughter yelled the house next door was burning. Wing says her daughter’s fiance pounded on a door to the home and got two people out safely.

Wing says she “saw another lady jump” from a second-floor window.

Assistant Fire Chief Steve Childs says the woman who jumped was taken to a hospital.

WLNS-TV reports the house is separated into three apartments. Names of the dead weren’t immediately released.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
