Ohio has a national treasure in U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan. Not only has he been one of the point men in pressing the Justice Department to turn over the necessary information to end the lengthy and costly investigation into potential Russian collusion, but he also volunteered to be Speaker of the House to replace Paul Ryan.

Like him or not, he has proposed a policy that everyone should like. As Speaker, he would require House members to actually read and debate the bills, whereas lobbyists currently write the bills, loaded with goodies for congressmen, before dumping a 2,700 page document on Congress with less than 15 hours to read and vote on it.

If the bills could be debated with a line item veto capability, it could save our children from becoming debt slaves.

Sinclair’s ‘news’ is laughable

I had heard about how the Sinclair Broadcast Group, the parent company of WNWO 24, was imposing preproduced editorials and biased stories on their large network of stations. Then, recently, I saw one of each on WNWO 24’s 11 p.m. news.

The editorial was one Fox News, among the worst purveyors of “fake news”, would be proud of. The so-called “news story” was as fake as it was laughable.

I tend be be on the conservative side of things, but this is clearly abuse of the public airwaves. WNWO 24 just lost a viewer.

Time for white-collar crime

A recent Blade article says that Wells Fargo has been fined $1 billion for its mortgage and auto lending business, opening 3.5 million accounts without customer authorization (April 21, “Wells Fargo fined $1B for lending practices”). They have also paid $100 million for previous transgressions.

What I want to know is: When will someone go to jail?
