To the editor: Truly selfless, generous

8/31/2018

In today’s society, we are continually bombarded with negative news. That recently changed when Dianne and Dave Jaeger from Oregon, Ohio, the winners of the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway, donated the house back to St. Jude.

They could have kept the home for themselves. They could have sold the home and kept the profits, or they could of passed it on to one of their children or grandchildren. Instead, they opened their hearts up wide and gave it back to St. Jude’s so that organization can continue treating and healing young children while housing the parents all for free.

Well done, Diane and Dave. God bless.

Clear-headed and objective

I am former Toledoan who now resides in Georgia since 1990. I have The Blade app on my phone and will read daily. I must admit, The Blade’s Aug. 24 editorial, “Let the people decide,” was refreshingly objective and as clear-headed as I have read in quite some time.

I am a proud conservative and find our politics today very abrasive and hateful. Although I was against President Trump in the primaries due to his crude and relentless attacks, I have watched him as President do everything he had promised, unlike most. I think that our country’s morality has given us Mr. Trump. Remember when everyone who defended Bill Clinton said that they don’t care about his morality and faithfulness as long as he did a good job as president?

Well, this President is doing what previous GOP presidents were afraid to do: fight back against biased media and stay on the offensive. He is taking policies that many of us support and is working non-stop to implement them at a faster pace than I have seen.

So, thank you to The Blade for not taking the usual biased stance of going after Mr. Trump and for trying to get people to open their eyes. We need more of this level-headed talk so that we all can have conversations again.
