The Mud Hens scored five runs in one inning against Jake Peavy, but that wasn't enough to avoid a 10-5 loss to Charlotte at Fifth Third Field Thursday.

Peavy, making a rehab start as he attempts to return from shoulder surgery, gave up five runs on four hits in the third inning. Will Rhymes had a two-run triple and Ryan Strieby a two-run homer for the key blows in that rally.

But in the other six innings Peavy pitched, the former Cy Young award winner retired every batter he faced. He finished with one walk and five strikeouts.

Meanwhile the Knights were busy pounding out 13 hits and at least one run in six different innings against the Hens. Among Charlotte's hits were three home runs: a three-run shot by Dallas McPherson in the first, a solo homer by Jordan Danks in the fourth, and a two-run homer by Dayan Viciedo in the seventh.
