BROOKLYN, Mich. — The name of the state’s popular Pure Michigan tourism campaign is going on a NASCAR race this summer.

Michigan Economic Development Corp. officials on Sunday announced that the Pure Michigan 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race would take place Aug. 21 at the Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn under a one-year partnership with the speedway.

The aim is to draw more attention to the state’s tourist attractions. Pure Michigan campaigns promote the state’s beaches, golf courses and other destinations.
