St. Cloud State defeats Notre Dame
3/30/2013The St. Cloud State hockey team defeated Notre Dame 5-1 in the first NCAA Midwest Regional semifinal game at the Huntington Center today.
The Huskies scored three goals in a dominating second period, with Joey Benik, Cory Thorson and Jonny Brodzinski getting the goals. Benik also scored in the third, while Ben Hanowski added a goal in the first period.
Notre Dame's lone goal was a short-handed tally by Mike Voran at 7:44 of the third period.
Notre Dame goalie Steven Summerhays has 14 saves through two periods and was replaced by Mike Johnson in the third. Johnson finished with four saves, while St. Cloud State goalie Ryan Faragher stopped 17 shots.
