Wings shut out Coyotes 4-0

DETROIT - Damien Brunner scored a goal and had an assist, Johan Franzen scored two goals and Henrik Zetterberg added three assists in the Detroit Red Wings' 4-0 win over the Phoenix Coyotes tonight at Joe Louis Arena.

With the win, the Red Wings are in ninth place in the Western Conference standings with 50 points and three games left in the regular season, one point behind Minnesota and Columbus, both idle tonight. The top eight teams in the Western Conference qualify for the playoffs.

Valtteri Filppula also scored for Detroit, while Jimmy Howard made 34 saves for the shutout.

Mike Smith made 20 saves for the Coyotes.

The Red Wings host the Los Angeles Kings at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Joe Louis Arena.
