DETROIT — Detroit forward Justin Abdelkader will receive a two-game suspension as a result of a dangerous hit on Anaheim defenseman Toni Lydman on Saturday in Game 3 of a Western Conference quarterfinal.

CBC reported the suspension this evening. Abdelkader had a telephone hearing this afternoon with the NHL's department of player safety.
Abdelkader will sit out Monday's Game 4 at Joe Louis Arena and Wednesday's Game 5 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. The Ducks are up 2-1 in the series, which continues Monday.
