Russo, Castellanos homer in Toledo Mud Hens 9-4 win over Columbus

COLUMBUS – The Mud Hens exploded for 16 hits and scored multiple runs in four different innings to pound Columbus 9-4 today.

Kevin Russo and Nick Castellanos each hit home runs for Toledo, with Castellanos, Brandon Douglas and Mike Cervenak each collecting three hits.

Derek Hankins gave up three runs in the fourth but was strong otherwise, allowing just four hits and two walks while fanning four in eight innings.

Toledo’s Bruce Rondon struggled with his control in the ninth, walking four in 2/3 of an inning to force home a run.

The Mud Hens return home to begin a brief two-game homestand against the Clippers Thursday, with first pitch at Fifth Third Field set for 7 p.m.
