DETROIT — Jose Alvarez pitched six strong innings in his major-leauge debut and Don Kelly hit a game-winning three-run home run as the Tigers completed a weekend sweep of the Indians with a 4-1 victory today at Comerica Park.

Alvarez, called up from Triple-A Toledo, carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning and held the Indians to one run on three hits over six innings.

His day ended with the game tied 1-1, but Kelly ensured the rookie's debut would be a winning one with a three-run shot in the sixth. Kelly golfed an ankle-high fastball over the right-field wall off Cleveland ace Justin Masterson.

The Indians lost their sixth straight game and 15th of 19 overall, falling 5 1/2 games behind the AL Central-leading Tigers.
