Oregon resident Zena Cole, who captured the bronze last year at the Paralympic Games in London, has been selected to compete for the United States at the 2013 International Paralympic Committee Athletics World Championships in Lyon, France, set for July 19-28, according to U.S. Paralympics, a division of the U.S. Olympic Committee.

Ms. Cole is among 76 athletes who will compete for the United States. Her events are the discus and the club, which is the Paralympic equivalent of the hammer throw. She took the bronze in London with a discus throw of 5.29 meters, which set a U.S. record in the quadriplegic women’s category. In achieving the record, she surpassed the U.S. record she set in 2011 at the Parapan-American Games in Mexico.
