EAST LANSING, Mich. — Athletes from across the country and world are set to compete at this week's World Dwarf Games in East Lansing.

More than 400 athletes from 23 nations and every U.S. state are taking part in this year's games, which organizers are calling the largest-ever sporting event exclusively for athletes with dwarfism.

The last games were held in Belfast in 2009.

Most of this year's events will be held at Michigan State University. Swimming competitions will be at the Mason High School Aquatic Center.

The games get underway with opening ceremonies and track and field today and run through Aug. 10.

The public is encouraged to attend the competitions, and admission is free.
