Jimmie Johnson crashes car during Pure Michigan 400 practice session

BROOKLYN, Mich. -- Jimmie Johnson will start at the back of the field for Sunday's Pure Michigan 400 after crashing his car during today's second Sprint Cup practice session at Michigan International Speedway.

Johnson, who qualified third for the Pure Michigan 400, crashed into the wall on Turn 4 and sustained damage to the front of the No. 48 Chevrolet, and switched to his backup car for the remainder of practice. Johnson will drive his backup car in Sunday's Sprint Cup race.

Joey Logano won the pole Friday for Sunday's Sprint Car race, which begins at 1 p.m. at MIS.
