Southview took an 11-7 lead to halftime in its upset bid against last year’s Division II state champion Central Catholic tonight.

But the second half was all Central, as the visiting Irish scored four touchdowns in a span of 12 minutes, 22 seconds in rolling to a 35-17 victory over the Cougars at Cats Stadium in Sylvania.

Central quarterback DeShone Kizer completed only five of his 15 passes, but those completions went for 188 yards and two touchdowns, and the Notre Dame-bound senior also rushed 10 times for 98 yards and a TD.

Irish running back Tre’Von Wade rushed 25 times for 131 yards and a score.

Southview senior quarterback Griffin McDonald was 10-of-29 passing for 270 yards and two TDs in defeat.

Central is 2-0, and Southview dropped to 0-2.
