Southview High School assistant football coach Robert "Sonny" Paluch was dismissed from the coaching staff by athletic director Susan Felver Friday after Paluch was arrested for a ''drug related" offense Thursday.

Felver confirmed that she attempted to contact Paluch Friday morning, and that he called her Friday after he posted bond. At that time Felver advised Paluch that he was dismissed from the staff.

"He was a volunteer assistant and we are very disappointed," Felver said. "It's unfortunate that the kids have to see that. We're just going to move on and keep the kids' focus on football."

Felver said that Paluch joined head coach Jim Mayzes' staff last season.

"He apologized and said through me that he was sorry to the kids and the coaching staff for putting Southview under the radar," Felver said.
