BGSU FALCONS Before this season began, the Buffalo athletic department made a decision that may backfire. UB decided that it would move its Black Friday contest against the Falcons from its on-campus home to Ralph Wilson Stadium for the "Clash at the Ralph." The idea was to take a game played with no students on campus and try to generate a crowd, knowing that these day-after-Thanksgiving contests barely generate an attendance ripple.
MICHIGAN WOLVERINES Does Michigan have a chance against the juggernaut that is Ohio State? Sure. If at least two offensive linemen get arrested and suspended between now and Saturday morning. If one of Ohio State's key starters is hospitalized for tryptophan poisoning. If Urban Meyer decides to leave Friday morning for a lengthy spiritual retreat in the mountains of Peru.
OHIO STATE BUCKEYES I fully expect Ohio State will trample Michigan's spirit with a hide-the-children bloodletting of historic proportions. My prediction: OSU by ... two touchdowns. Hold off on the predictions the Big Ten will mandate a running clock in the second half. Yes, I understand the urge. The rivalry is as one-sided as ever, with Gov. John Kasich telling Michigan this week, "When we beat you like a drum every single year, you better start looking for a new rival." And the gap between the teams has rarely been larger. OSU is a staggering 16-point favorite to beat UM for the 11th time in 13 years.
UT ROCKETS Say this about The Most Frustrating Team in the MAC: The Rockets don't always lose, but when they do, they prefer to lose to a better team. Superiority prevailed again in a fourth straight loss to Northern Illinois. It marked UT's eighth loss in the past two seasons, all against an opponent that stacked up better on paper.
