Detroit Tigers sign 3 to minor league contracts
12/2/2013The Detroit Tigers have signed three players to minor-league contracts, including one of the most popular and successful players in Mud Hens history.
Detroit signed 1B Mike Hessman to a minor-league contract, along with RHP Eduardo Sanchez and LHP Patrick McCoy. Hessman played for the Hens from 2005-09 and is the franchise's all-time leader in career home runs (140) and RBIs (373), among other categories.

Hessman played on Toledo teams that won the International League's Governors' Cup in both 2005 and '06. He was voted IL MVP in 2007 when he led the league with 31 home runs and 101 RBIs, then was an IL post-season all-star in 2008 when he hit 34 homers.
