ANN ARBOR — Michigan football coach Brady Hoke announced today that the Wolverines will host an open scrimmage at 8 p.m. Aug. 16 at Michigan Stadium.

The open session, Hoke said, will be split between practice and scrimmage reps.

"It's really healthy for our guys to get to play in front of people," Hoke said. "It's going to be a good thing for our players and the guys in this program and, hopefully, the Michigan faithful."

The Wolverines open the season Aug. 30 against Appalachian State at Michigan Stadium, and will play a night game the following week (Sept. 6) at Notre Dame.

"With the mindset that they can have and how we'll go into [the scrimmage], a little bit of it will also be for night-game purposes," Hoke said. "You want to at least be in a stadium a little bit before then."
