Craft looks to make Warriors after signing 1-year contract

As a TV analyst for TNT, Steve Kerr fell hard for the game of Ohio State’s indefatigable point guard.

“What position does Aaron Craft play, you ask? Winner” he posted on Twitter in January.

Now, Kerr is giving the Findlay native a chance to show it in the NBA. Craft on Wednesday signed a partially guaranteed one-year contract with the Golden State Warriors — where Kerr is in his first season as head coach — his agent, Lance Young, confirmed to The Blade.

Craft will report to the Warriors’ training camp and attempt to make their roster as the team’s third point guard.

A two-time Big Ten defensive player of the year, Craft played for the Warriors and Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA summer league. But he particularly impressed with Golden State, averaging 7.4 points, 2.8 assists, and 2.8 steals in five games in the Las Vegas summer league.

"People have their opinions of him in terms of he doesn't shoot it well enough, he doesn't do this,“ Kerr told reporters last month. ”He competes and he wins."
