Sophomore faces charges from July 18 incident outside bar

ANN ARBOR - The University of Michigan football team announced tonight that sophomore wide receiver Csont'e York has been dismissed from the Wolverines.

“Csont’e York has been dismissed from the Michigan football program," UM coach Brady Hoke said in a statement. "Representing the University of Michigan is a privilege and, while second chances are certainly deserved, sometimes it’s better for everyone if that happens somewhere else. Overall, I have been proud of how responsible our team has been this offseason and how hard they’ve worked to prepare for the season.”

York, a sophomore, was indefinitely suspended Aug. 3. He faces three charges related to a July 18 incident outside of an Ann Arbor bar in which he allegedly punched a man and broke his jaw. York faces two counts of assault or assault and battery and one count of aggravated assault.

York's arraignment is scheduled for 9 a.m. Sept. 8 in Washtenaw County's 15th District Court, per online court records.

York appeared in one game in 2013 as a reserve wide receiver.
