Braydon Lichtenberg and Dimitrios Mitsopoulos hooked up on two touchdown passes, and the host Titans beat the Fighting Irish for the first time since 2010 in Three Rivers Athletic Conference play Friday night.

Even more important for St. John’s (6-4, 4-3 TRAC) is what it means for their playoff chances, which skyrocketed with the victory.

Mitsopoulos caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from Lichtenberg toward the end of the third quarter, and with the extra point, the Titans led 7-6. They connected again on a 10-yard scoring pass in the fourth to build that lead.

Lichtenberg completed 18-of-28 passes for 160 yards. Mitsopoulos finished with nine catches for 92 yards. Dallas Gant added six receptions for 39 yards.

The Titans bottled up Jase Bowen, who had 10 carries for 27 yards for Central (8-2, 5-2). He scored on a 1-yard run in the second quarter as the Irish led 6-0 at halftime.

The Eagles used a big fourth quarter to rally past the visiting Spartans. Adrine Mitchell gave the Spartans (4-6, 2-5) the lead in the second quarter with a 10-yard touchdown run.

Early in the fourth quarter, with the Spartans leading by seven, Clay’s Michael Halka recovered a fumble at the Eagles’ own 9-yard line. The Eagles (5-5, 3-4) then marched 91 yards, with Reese Wamer capping the drive with a 10-yard touchdown run.

Wamer made sure the score didn’t stay tied for long. He connected with Trey Reddick for a 30-yard score, and then added a second 10-yard score.

Wamer led the Eagles’ rushing attack with 112 yards and two scores on 10 carries.

For the Spartans, Xavier Nichols rushed for 162 yards on 12 carries.
