ANN ARBOR -— Moritz Wagner is returning to Staples Center.

A few months after helping lead Michigan to the Final Four in the home of the Los Angeles Lakers, Wagner was selected by the Lakers with the 25th pick in Thursday’s NBA Draft.

The 6-foot-11, 245-pound forward led Michigan in scoring during the NCAA tournament, which ended in a national championship game appearance. Wagner was an All-Big Ten selection after averaging 14.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. He is UM’s seventh first-round draft pick under John Beilein, joining Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway Jr., Nik Stauskas, Mitch McGary, Caris Levert, and D.J. Wilson.
