5 Bowling Green players primed for breakout 2018 season

    • Bowling Green’s roster is lined with players who are likely to see graduated roles on this season’s team. On offense, the Falcons have only two players who have started more than 10 games, and the defense is undergoing a full overhaul.

    Ahead of the Falcons’ season-opening game Sept. 1 at Oregon, here are five players who could be ready for a breakout season:

    1) Quintin Morris: The 6-foot-4 wide receiver from Texas is very much in Bowling Green’s plans this season. Morris caught eight passes and two touchdowns in 2017, but has been running with the Falcons’ first team during training camp. Morris is the biggest of the Falcons’ receivers and should be a constant factor in the red zone.

    2) Ty Redding: The cornerback played in 10 games last season and figures to play an even bigger role in the Falcons’ pass defense in 2018. He’s in the mix to start at one of the cornerback spots as BG installs a new defense.

    3) Bryson Denley: Andrew Clair is the surefire starter at running back, but Denley has earned carries with his big-play ability. He’ll see time in the backfield and could also be a factor on BG’s kick return team.

    4) Ra’veion Hargrove: Falcons coach Mike Jinks admitted he isn’t exactly sure how the true freshman fits in BG’s plans, but he looks ready for the field. Like Denley, Hargrove should see time as a change-of-pace back and possibly as a kick returner.

    5) Josh Croslen: BG is in need of a breakout player on the defensive line, and Croslen could be the man. Croslen played in every game in 2017, but likely will start at nose guard this year. If he’s a consistent run-stopper, BG will have answered one of its biggest offseason questions.
