NWOAL: Daft TD winner for Locos

ARCHBOLD - Josh Daft broke loose for a 53-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter last night to give Montpelier a 21-14 upset victory over Archbold.

Daft openeed the scoring for the Locomotives (2-4, 2-3) with a 35-yard run in the first quarter.

Daft gained 130 yards on 15 carries.

Austin Bailey hit Ryan Thorp with a 27-yard TD pass in the second quarter for Montpelier's other score.

The Blue Streaks (4-2, 3-1) scored on a 21-yard run by Christopher Skiver and a 40-yard pass from Kevin Mignin to Michael Evans.

Archbold running back Casey Nofziger did not play because of an injury.

Evergreen 38,

Toledo Christian 33

METAMORA - Jack Wade gained 99 yards on 17 carries and scored on runs of 1 and 8 yards to help Evergreen win a shootout with Toledo Christian that was finally decided by Tyler Winn's 10-yard scoring pass to Zach Lashaway.

Winn also scored TDs on runs of 2 and 5 yards and hit Travis Dowling with a five-yard scoring pass for the 2-4 Vikings.

Toledo Christian (3-3) got two touchdowns from Ben Holt - a 19-yard blocked return and a 24-yard pass from Dan Newman.

Newman scored on an 81-yard kick return, Blake Powell scored on a 28-yard run and Matt Orr scored from 14-yard out.

Evergreen ran for 256 yards and passed for 256 while Toledo Christian had 73 and 136.

Wauseon 21, Bryan 7

WAUSEON - Brad Meyers carried the ball seven times for 101 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game with a first-quarter injury and Raymond Martinez added 21 carries for 75 yards and a TD as the Indians dominated on the ground (239 yards to Bryan's 87).

Jake Reckner added a one-yard TD run for Wauseon (2-4, 2-2).

Leo Link put the Bears (1-5, 1-3) on the board with a six-yard TD pass to Jamie Lorentz in the fourth quarter.

Liberty Center 63, Swanton 0

LIBERTY CENTER - The score was already 20-0 before the Tigers' offense hit the end zone for the first time on Matt Wiley's 44-yard pass to Kasey Bodenbender, who had earlier scored on a 45-yard interception return.

Eric Wymer led Liberty Center in rushing with three carries for 68 yards and two touchdowns. Swanton's Andy Pilliod was the game's leading rusher with 15 carries for 111 yards.
