NLL Roundup: Napoleon, Anthony Wayne earn wins on road; Springfield, Maumee fall

LEWIS CENTER — Springfield quarterback A.J. Gucciardo threw for 353 yards and four touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough as the Blue Devils fell to Olentangy, 53-33, in a nonconference football game on Friday night.

Behind Zach Shiblaq, who rushed for 167 yards, the Braves outscored Springfield 29-7 in the first quarter, and maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way.

Josiah Pressley rushed for 91 yards and had a TD for the Blue Devils.

Napoleon 43, Wauseon 6

WAUSEON — Andrew Warncke connected with Logan Shepard for three long touchdowns as the Wildcats routed Wauseon.

Shepard hauled in TDs from 77, 62, and 25 yards out.

Jarrett Gerdeman scored on runs of 27 and 25 yards, while Chasten Wilde had one of 8 yards.

Wauseon’s score came in the first quarter on a 1-yard run by Isacc Wilson.

Eastwood 44, Maumee 6

Visiting Eastwood ground down Maumee with 417 yards rushing, led by Jaden Rayford’s 185 yards on 14 carries.

Rayford scored on runs of 34 and 48 yards in the first quarter for the Eagles. He had a 28-yard scoring scamper in the third quarter.

Ceyleon Damron had 149 yards rushing and scores of 68 and 79 yards for Eastwood.

Maumee got on the board in the second quarter when Caden Brookshier caught a 42-yard scoring strike from Blake Adams.

Anthony Wayne 34, Clyde 21

CLYDE — Ezra Smith carried 28 times for 157 yards and two touchdowns as the Generals won on the road. Smith scored on runs of 1 and 19 yards.

Max Denman completed 9 of 22 passes for 186 yards, which included a 49-yard touchdown to Nick Kaufman. Denman also had a 2-yard touchdown run, and Mason Alberts returned a kickoff 91 yards for a score.

Clyde scored on three short touchdown runs: two by Braydi Clark and one by Gunner Golden.
