Take your last Art Walk of the 2013 season tonight

Tonight’s 6 to 9 p.m. Art Walk, at which two-dozen art-related galleries, eateries, studios, and shops in and around downtown open their doors, will be the last of the year. Free guided tours will begin at the Art Walk Info Table (at South St. Clair and Lafayette streets) at 6:15 and 6:45 p.m. Maps of participating venues are at theartscommission.com. ● So foul and fair a day I have not seen, a 9/11 Memorial Exhibit is at Inside Angles through Sept. 28. It begins with photos and facts about the events of Sept. 11, 2001, when four airplanes were crashed in New York City, Washington, D.C., and rural Pennsylvania; proceeds to watercolors produced by Carolyn Ellingson as she listened to news reports in her San Francisco studio, and concludes with published poetry written by a local businessman. Ellingson’s paintings are saturated with emotion, rage, and concern. A reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 27 in the gallery, 6831 Angola Rd., adjacent to Taste of Toledo in Holland. ● The Ohio Watercolor Society’s 36th Annual Exhibition opens Saturday with an awards banquet at the Firelands Association for the Visual Arts at the New Union Center for the Arts, 39 S. Main St., Oberlin. It includes work by Toledoans Martin Chappuies and Allen Hutton, Sylvanians Thomas Sorrell and John Trumbull, and Findlay’s Dennis Zimmerman. Artists will demonstrate their techniques from 2 to 4 p.m. this Sunday, Sept. 22 and 29, and Oct. 6. The contest drew 218 entries, from which 70 were chosen by Jean Grastorf, a painter and teacher from Florida. It continues through Nov. 3. ● The seventh Art-A-Licious, with more than 80 artists, entertainment, and activities for all ages, will be Sept. 20 and 21 in downtown Adrian. A youth art tent and a pottery tent will be open. There will be theater and Caribbean, Irish, and Tejano music, along with the Beatles tribute band Toppermost. Hours will be 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday with the art fair ending at 8 p.m. each day. Information: artalicious.org and facebook.com/artalicious.
● Historic Sauder Village in Archbold celebrates its artisans through Sunday. Glassmaker Mark Matthews and potter Mark Nafziger, both nationally known and doing contemporary work, will be featured along with historic crafters such as spinners, tinmakers, weavers, woodworkers, quilters, coopers, and basket and broom makers.
The village, on a 235-acre complex, is open through the end of October. Upcoming events include Apple Butter Making Sept. 25 to 28, All Aboard train event Oct. 5 and 6, and Fall on the Farm/Scout Day on Oct. 12. Information: 1-800-590-9755 and saudervillage.org.
● The Ohio Arts Council is seeking nominations for the 2014 Governor’s Awards for the Arts in Ohio.
The awards are given to Ohio individuals and organizations for outstanding contributions to the arts locally, statewide, regionally, and nationally.
