NHTSA adds Durango to ceiling fire probe

DETROIT — U.S. safety regulators are adding the Dodge Durango to an investigation of ceiling fires in Jeep Grand Cherokees because the Durango has the same ceiling and visors as the Grand Cherokee.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says the probe covers more than 593,000 SUVs in the 2011-2013 model years. It says an analysis of Chrysler Group LLC data shows 52 possible fires and three injuries. No recall has been ordered.
