GM CEO: No more serious safety issues lurking
6/10/2014DETROIT — General Motors CEO Mary Barra says a thorough review of safety issues at the company hasn’t turned up any more serious problems.
She also says at a press conference ahead of GM’s annual shareholders meeting that personnel changes related to a deadly ignition switch problem are finished. The company forced out 15 workers last week after an outside attorney blamed them for failing to act on the problem.
Barra further says that there will be some minor adjustments to GM’s structure after the investigation by former U.S. Attorney Anton Valukas.
GM has admitted knowing about the ignition switch problem for at least a decade, yet it didn’t recall the cars until early this year. At least 13 people have died in crashes linked to the switches.
