The Rogers and Clyde girls basketball teams will meet in the Division II district championship on Saturday after both registered wins tonight.

Clyde thumped Central Catholic 70-53 in the first district semifinal at Perrysburg High School. Rogers then held off a pesky Bowling Green team 71-68 in the second semi.

Central (17-8) gave No. 4 ranked Clyde (24-1) a good test in the first half. The Irish led 19-16 after the first quarter. Central then held a 26-25 edge before the Flyers went on a 12-0 run and never looked back.

Clyde senior forward Amanda Cahill, who will play next season at Indiana University, scored a game-high 32 points. Cahill also grabbed 13 rebounds. Kelsey Michaels finished with 20 points.

Central was led by Byrdy Galernik's 17 points. Alex Matus tallied 11 points and Michelle Murnen added 10 for the Irish.

Rogers (21-4) then had to hold off a tenacious Bowling Green (13-12) team. The Bobcats had a chance to tie the game with 23 seconds left but could not get a shot off.

The Rams' one-two punch of Akienrah Johnson and Sasha Dailey stepped up at different points. Johnson scored 15 of her team-high 21 points in the first and fourth quarters. Dailey produced 11 of her 17 points in the third quarter.

Bowling Green senior guard Hannah Williford scored a game-high 26 points. The Bobcats' Tyanna Smith chipped in with 19 points, while Kendal Glandorff finished with 12. Smith also had six rebounds.

The Bobcats committed 21 turnovers.

Rogers was knocked out of the tournament last season by Clyde in the regional finals. The teams meet again on Saturday at 7 p.m. at Perrysburg.
