INDIANAPOLIS — Erica Donovan’s layup with 27.8 seconds left gave the Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team the lead for good in a 61-57 comeback victory today over Butler.

The Falcons (4-0) rebounded from a nine-point deficit during the first half. Alexis Rogers led BG with 17 points, while Miriam Justinger added 13.

Haley Howard scored 13 points to lead Butler (1-3), which also got 12 from Daress McClung and 10 from Liz Stratman.

The Bulldogs led 13-4 less than six minutes into the game. The Falcons scored the final six points of the half but trailed 27-22.

Justinger and Rogers keyed an early second-half explosion — a 21-6 run to build a 43-33 lead with 13:21 to play. Justinger scored nine in that rally, while Rogers had eight.

The Falcons led 57-48 with 3:57 to play before Butler made one final rally. The Bulldogs scored nine straight points, with McClung making the first of two free throws with 42 seconds to play to tie it.

McClung missed the second free throw, and on the next possession Justinger found Donovan for the layup that gave BG the lead for good.
