Falcons’ depth sinks Monarchs

All 5 BG starters score in double figures in win

COLUMBUS — The Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team had all five starters finish in double figures as the Falcons beat Old Dominion 77-58 in the second day of the Basketball Hall of Fame Challenge.

The game was played at Ohio State University’s Schottenstein Center.

Erica Donovan and Jill Stein each posted double-doubles for the Falcons, who improved to 5-1 this season. Donovan scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, while Stein added 14 points and 14 boards.

Alexis Rogers scored 17 points, Jillian Halfhill had 12, and Miriam Justinger 10 for BG.

Stephanie Gardner scored 14 points to lead Old Dominion (2-3), while Tiffany Minor came off the bench to add 12 for the Monarchs.

Bowling Green used a quick start to take early command, rolling to a 14-4 lead less than seven minutes into the game. The Falcons held the advantage through most of the half and led 39-30 at the break.

Rogers scored 11 points in the half, while Donovan added 10 points and eight boards.

Old Dominion got no closer than seven points during the second half, and the Falcons used a 12-4 run during a five-minute span midway to pull away.

The Falcons will face Ohio State today at 3:30 p.m. at the Schottenstein Center.
