BGSU dumps Buffalo 24-7, heads to MAC championship game

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The Bowling Green State University football team defeated the University at Buffalo 24-7 at Ralph Wilson Stadium today.

With the victory the Falcons improve to 9-3 overall and 7-1 in the Mid-American Conference and win the MAC's East Division Title.

Buffalo falls to 8-4 and 6-2.

Leading 17-7 after three quarters, BG added an insurance touchdown in the final period on a seven-yard run by Matt Johnson with 8:18 left in the game.

 

THIRD QUARTER

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The Bowling Green State University football team leads the University at Buffalo 17-7 after three quarters at Ralph Wilson Stadium today.

The Falcons scored a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter, getting a 23-yard TD toss from Matt Johnson to Shaun Joplin with 8:07 left in the period and a 14 yard scoring run by Travis Greene.

The winner of the contest will win the Mid-American Conference's East Division title and play in the MAC Championship game against Northern Illinois Friday at 8 p.m.

 

HALFTIME

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The Bowling Green State University football team trails the University at Buffalo 7-3 at halftime at Ralph Wilson Stadium today.

Buffalo used a nine-play, 66-yard drive to score a touchdown at 7:13 of the second quarter. Branden Oliver capped the drive with a two-yard TD run.

The Falcons have allowed UB just 93 yards of total offense, including just 29 yards rushing. But BG has just 152 yards of total offense, including just 22 yards passing.

 

FIRST QUARTER

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- The Bowling Green State University football team leads the University at Buffalo 3-0 after one quarter at Ralph Wilson Stadium today.

The Falcons scored the only points of the quarter on a 40-yard field goal by Tyler Tate with 4:52 on the clock.

The BG defense limited the Bulls to just 25 yards of total offense in the period.
