Late surge gives Falcons a 4-4 tie

HOUGHTON, Mich. — The Bowling Green State University hockey team kept host Michigan Tech winless in the weekend series by scoring twice in the final two minutes, 28 seconds to end Saturday night’s game in a 4-4 tie.

The Falcons (8-8-4 overall, 6-6-2 WCHA) got three third-period goals after the Huskies (6-9-5, 4-4-4) broke open the game at 3-1 Tech with a Blake Hietala power-play goal at the 10:10 mark.

Dajon Mingo scored two minutes later to make it a one-goal game before Kero Tanner answered less than a minute later.

Ben Murphy scored for BG after they pulled goaltender Tommy Burke (43 saves) and Bryce Williamson added the tying marker 34 seconds later.

On Friday, the Falcons got a goal from Matt Pohlkamp, and two from Kevin Dufour to beat MTU 3-2.
