BOWLING GREEN – New Bowling Green State University football coach Dino Babers officially announced the majority of his assistant coaches for next season today.

Seven coaches – Tom Freeman, Sterlin Gilbert, Sean Lewis, Mike Lynch, Tom Kaufman, Matt Mattox and Kim McCloud – were named to the Falcons staff after spending last season with Babers at Eastern Illinois.

An eighth assistant, Nick Monroe, was retained from the staff of Dave Clawson, who left BG to become coach at Wake Forest.

One assistant coaching position remains open after Larry McDaniel, who originally was expected to stay at Bowling Green, instead joined the staff of his alma mater, Indiana.

Babers also named Sean Edinger the school’s director of strength and conditioning and Roy Wittke as BG’s director of football operations. Both also followed Babers from Eastern Illinois.
