ATHENS, Ohio — The Bowling Green State University women’s basketball team dominated the final nine minutes of a 78-62 win at Ohio University on Thursday.

The Falcons outscored OU 27-4 in those final nine minutes to improve to 17-3 overall and 7-1 in the Mid-American Conference.

Alexis Rogers led five BG players in double figures with 20 points.

Jillian Halfhill scored 16, Deborah Hoekstra came off the bench to post 14, and Northview High School grad Miriam Justinger had 10. Jill Stein posted a double-double with 12 points and a career-high 18 rebounds.

Kiyanna Black scored 12 points to lead the Bobcats (8-11, 3-5 MAC), while Quiera Lampkins and Kat Yelle each added 10.

The Falcons scored the game’s first 10 points, but Ohio had the better of play for much of the rest of the first half.

The Bobcats used a 14-0 run late in the period to build a 30-23 lead with 4:02 to play, and Ohio led 35-31 at halftime. OU made 6-for-12 3-pointers in the first half.

Rogers and Stein each made two free throws to begin BG’s decisive second-half run, and shortly thereafter a Hoekstra 3 tied the game at 58 with 8:10 left.

After the two teams traded baskets, Bowling Green scored the game’s next 12 points.
