Michigan Tech edges BG in OT

BOWLING GREEN — Blake Pietila scored at 1:22 of overtime to give the Michigan Tech Huskies a 5-4 win over Bowling Green State University in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association game Saturday at the BG Ice Arena.

The Huskies’ Jacob Johnstone scored twice in the third period, with the second goal coming with 3:42 left, to force the overtime.

Matt Pohlkamp scored twice for Bowling Green (13-12-5, 10-9-3 WCHA), which also got goals from Mark Cooper and Kevin Dufour.

David Johnstone and Malcolm Gould also had goals for Michigan Tech (10-14-6, 8-8-4 WCHA).

Tommy Burke finished with 27 saves in goal for the Falcons, while the Huskies’ Jamie Phillips also stopped 27 shots.
