BG's Roos named MAC women's basketball coach of the year

Bowling Green State University's Jennifer Roos was named the Mid-American Conference women's basketball coach of the year today.

Roos' Falcons, ranked No. 25 in the Associated Press poll, are the top seed in this week's MAC tournament after winning the league's regular season crown.

Rogers graduate Cha Sweeney of Eastern Michigan was named MAC freshman of the year, and Central Michigan's Crystal Bradford is player of the year.

On the men's side, Eastern Michigan's Da'Shonte Riley was tabbed defensive player of the year. Also lauded were Ball State's Zavier Turner (freshman) and Akron's Jake Kretzer (sixth man).
