BGSU hockey tops Michigan Tech

BOWLING GREEN -- Bowling Green State University defeated Michigan Tech 5-2 in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association playoff game at the BG Ice Arena Saturday.

The win allowed the Falcons to complete a sweep of the best-of-three series with the Huskies. BG now will advance to the WCHA's "Final Five" at Grand Rapids Van Andel Arena for a semifinal game next Friday for a game whose opponent and time are to be determined.

Adam Berkle scored a pair of goals, including an empty-netter, to lead Bowling Green (18-14-6), while Ryan Carpenter, Marcus Perrier and Matt Pohlkamp also had goals.

Reid Sturos and Malcolm Gould scored the goals for Michigan Tech (14-19-7).

Tommy Burke stopped 28 shots for Bowling Green, while Huskies goalie Pheonix Copley was credited with 29 saves.
