Expanding your education seems easier than ever in today’s world of online programs. Knowing students have a variety of options, Mercy College of Ohio has created online opportunities to fit the needs of a diverse student population.
In addition to online coursework, Mercy College reaches out to prospective students in non-traditional ways that are convenient to students no matter their location. This includes hosting Virtual Open Houses for students interested in online degree completion programs. While a traditional open house gives students the opportunity to visit campus to learn more about programs by meeting with program representatives and taking a campus tour, the Virtual Open House brings a similar experience online. When logging in for a Virtual Open House, students are able to learn about program requirements and structure by chatting with a program representative. A Virtual Open House can be accessed from any location with computer access that is convenient to the student.
Virtual Open Houses are offered for the three online program options at Mercy College including, Health Care Administration, Medical Imaging, and RN to BSN completion. These programs are designed for students who wish to gain career mobility or those interested in expanding their educational credentials.
The Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration (HCA) online completion program offers students interested in leadership the opportunity to prepare for careers in healthcare related facilities. The Bachelor of Science in Medical Imaging online completion provides students with a diversified plan of study in advanced imaging (CT and MRI), healthcare administration, technical support knowledge (PACS and QM), and general studies in a balanced curriculum to prepare them for advancement in multiple career roles. Mercy College’s online RN to BSN completion program is designed for students who are already registered nurses and wish to complete their bachelor’s degree in nursing.
As noted by Anne M. Loochtan, PhD, RRT, vice president of Academic Affairs/Dean of Faculty, “Mercy College understands the unique needs of individual students and recognizes prior coursework and experience. Mercy students are able to learn in a dynamic online environment that offers personal and professional challenges while achieving educational goals in one of our three bachelor’s degree completion programs. ”
Students can learn more about online bachelor’s degree completion programs at the following sites: HCA – mercycollege.edu/hca; Medical Imaging – mercycollege.edu/medical-imaging; and RN to BSN – mercycollege.edu/rn-bsn, or by calling 419-251-1313 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
Online coursework at Mercy College may be different than what many students expect. The focus is to allow for the development of the whole student through a variety of course requirements. Our courses are not online correspondence courses, but rather mimic classroom activities and experiences, contain lectures, and allow for collaboration with other students. This range of requirements prepares students for life beyond Mercy College.
For students who would rather complete an online certificate program or simply fill an item on their “bucket list,” Mercy College offers numerous short-term online options in the areas of professional development, personal enrichment, and lifelong learning. Options include “Spanish for Medical Professionals,” test prep (GRE, GMAT, SAT/ACT, and LSAT), ICD-10 to Allied Health Professionals, ICD-10 for Physicians, and ICD-10 FAST TRACK, Electronic Health Records Professional, and Medical Transcription and Medical Editor, to name a few. More information about short term online options can be found at mercycollege.edu/short-term-edu or by calling 419-251-1799.
