BOWLING GREEN — Bowling Green State University freshman goaltender Eric Dop was named Western Collegiate Hockey Association rookie of the week, the league announced Monday.

Dop stopped 24-of-25 shots he faced Friday to lead the Falcons to a 3-1 victory over Bemidji State. The freshman stopped all 15 shots he faced in the first two periods, then added nine in the third period — including several stops late when the Beavers pulled their goalie for an extra attacker.

This marks the third time this season Dop has won the WCHA's weekly award for the league's top rookie.

The Falcons will host Alabama-Huntsville at the Slater Family Ice Arena this weekend, with Friday's contest starting at 7:37 p.m. and Saturday's beginning at 7:07 p.m.
