Report: Patterson ruling at standstill

ANN ARBOR — When Michigan begins spring practice next Friday, chances are the quarterback quandary will be far from solved.

According to a report from CBS Sports, Shea Patterson’s request for a waiver to be eligible immediately is at a standstill. Ole Miss, Patterson’s former school, has not responded to UM’s waiver request. But the reason why is because Ole Miss hasn’t even received a copy of it.

Once Ole Miss receives a copy, the school has 10 business days to give a recommendation. The NCAA’s final ruling will likely come two to three weeks after that.

Patterson, who’s been enrolled at Michigan since January, is still able to practice. The school just wouldn’t know if he’s eligible for the upcoming season.
