A Toledo man convicted in the shooting death of his estranged wife was sentenced today to life in prison with the possibility of parole after he serves 33 years.

Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Myron Duhart imposed the sentence on Robert F. Carter, 44, of 1143 Belmont Ave.

Following a jury trial last month, Carter was found guilty of aggravated murder and a firearms specification in the Dec. 24 death of Wendabi Triplett, 41.

Carter, who prosecutors said was angry that Ms. Triplett wanted a divorce, walked up to her car and fired seven shots at her in the 4400 block of Terrace View Street. She and her children had planned to attend a Christmas party at a friend’s house when she was killed in the street.
