A Toledo man whose 11-month-old son fell out a window while he was supposed to be watching the toddler pleaded no contest Monday to an amended charge of endangering children.

Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Gary Cook found Tracy Smith, 20, of 243 Palmer St., guilty of the misdemeanor and placed him on probation for a year. Judge Cook ordered Mr. Smith to take parenting classes, consume no drugs or alcohol, and undergo random urinalysis. He also lifted a no-contact order since his arrest.

Mr. Smith was watching his son July 10 when he dozed off. The child climbed through an open second-story window and fell, breaking his leg.
