A Maumee man who was assaulted inside the Lucas County jail following his arrest on a robbery offense pleaded guilty Monday to three charges.

Austin Johnson, 21, of 6122 Suffolk Lane pleaded guilty in Lucas County Common Pleas Court to carrying a concealed weapon and reduced charges of theft and attempt to commit escape. A co-defendant, Dynasty Crawford, 19, of 5450 Dorr St. pleaded guilty to complicity to commit theft and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle.

The two were charged in connection with an Oct. 12 holdup at Tim Hortons restaurant in Holland. Shortly after the incident, a Lucas County sheriff’s deputy stopped a car driven by Crawford, and Johnson attempted to run from police.

Both Johnson and Crawford are to be sentenced Jan. 23 by Judge Dean Mandros.
