Toledoan charged in rape, assault

A Lucas County grand jury Friday indicted an East Toledo man on charges he raped and assaulted a woman he gave a ride.

Dontae Upchurch, 25, of 126 Dearborn Ave. was indicted for rape and felonious assault stemming from a Dec. 9 incident. The victim told police a man drove her to a North Toledo alley, where he raped her and stabbed her in the left eye.
