A Toledo man was found guilty Tuesday of two counts of rape stemming from sexual assaults on a young girl.

Jordan Byrd, 22, of 2757 Tremainsville Rd. was to have gone to trial on four counts of rape and one count of gross sexual imposition but instead entered Alford pleas to the first-degree felonies before Lucas County Common Pleas Judge Gene Zmuda. In an Alford plea, a defendant does not admit to committing a crime but acknowledges evidence is sufficient for a conviction and that it could result in a more severe sentence.

Jennifer Lambdin, an assistant Lucas County prosecutor, told the court Byrd engaged in sexual conduct with a girl who was between 6 and 8 years old on more than one occasion between September, 2009, and November, 2011. He faces up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced Feb. 19.
