A 14-year-old girl who told police that someone tried to abduct her from a downtown bus station has been charged with falsification, police said.
The girl told police a man tried to grab her while she was waiting at a bus stop near Washington and 14th streets on Jan. 16, and she allegedly provided police with a false description for a sketch.
Investigators said that the girl’s statements did not match evidence. Police Sgt. Kevin Braun said they are not sure how the girl suffered serious injuries, believed to be a result of the “abduction.”
The investigation is ongoing, Sergeant Braun said.
