A Swanton Township man who had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in the shooting death of his estranged wife’s boyfriend was found competent to stand trial Thursday in Lucas County Common Pleas Court.

Judge Ruth Ann Franks made the finding for David Zielinski, 34, of 3859 Berkey Southern Rd., based on a report from the Court Diagnostic and Treatment Center. Mr. Zielinski, who withdrew his insanity plea, is scheduled for trial on April 28.

He is charged with aggravated murder, aggravated burglary, kidnapping, and attempted murder in the July 14 death of Michael Jackson, 20, of Toledo.
