Woman gets 3 years for stabbing her boyfriend

A Toledo woman who stabbed her boyfriend in the chest was sentenced Thursday to three years in prison.

Meika Gibson, 26, of 1909 Arlington Ave. was found guilty Feb. 20 of felonious assault following a jury trial in Lucas County Common Pleas Court for the Dec. 20 attack on William Disher. She admitted on the stand that she stabbed Mr. Disher, but, after initially lying to police about what happened, said she was defending herself from her drunken boyfriend.

Judge Ruth Ann Franks told Gibson “you were very fortunate that you didn’t kill him, but you caused serious physical harm.”
